Y’all!!!! It’s Pi Day!
You know…
𝝅
In case you need a refresher, this character represents the ratio between the circumference of a circle compared to its diameter.
Now, I have friends that can recite multiple digits of pi. However, the only ones that matter for today are 3.14.
Y’all! That’s today’s date! March 14 = 3.14
One of my favorite memories of Pi Day is from last year (2021).
No joke, I got pied in the face…
On Pi Day.
What’s cooler than that?!?!?
In case you don’t believe me…
Here’s photographic proof:
I actually got pied in the face twice that day. It was honestly so much fun!
Now, you might be wondering why in the world I got pied in the face… twice…
Since January of 2021, I have been on staff at my local church as a Children’s Ministry Intern. I’ve loved my time on staff, and I promise to tell y’all more about that experience in the future, but I’m going to try and stay focused.
Back on track…
In our Children’s Ministry, we started a new offering project.
We partnered with Mission 2535 in the Dominican Republic. They have multiple ways of raising funds for new churches.
One of the ways they do this is through raising chickens. They can sell the chicken and the eggs, and whatever profit they make goes to plant new churches.
So we started collecting offering with the next two things in mind:
- Every $1.50 equaled one chicken.
- For every ten chickens ($15) our elementary students raised, they got to pie a leader in the face.
Over two months, multiple of us involved in our Children’s Ministry (volunteers and staff) got pied in the face. And yes, all of our volunteers agreed to be pied. We didn’t force any leaders into it (just in case you were worried about that).
At the time, we had one Children’s Ministry service at one campus in the morning, and we had a second service at our other campus in the evening.
Hence why I got pied twice in one day.
But y’all… I want to say it again…
I got pied on Pi Day!
That’s so cool! Who else can say that?
Ok… probably a lot of people, but still!
I’m one of those people that can say they got pied on Pi Day!
It’s still one of my favorite memories, and I will always treasure it!
It was also such a fun way to celebrate our kiddos, what they accomplished, and encourage them to keep giving.
I love Children’s Ministry, and I can’t wait to see what crazy things we do next.
Let the ministry adventures continue!
