This is probably one of my favorite pictures. There’s a couple of reasons for this.

  1. I was doing Children’s Ministry. I absolutely love getting to do anything with kids, so this was such a surreal experience.
  2. I was teaching a memory verse in FRENCH. (I am not fluent in French at all, but I learned the memory verse in French and then taught it).
  3. I got to teach the memory verse with one of my new best friends. (The man standing next to me was our translator on our trip. He and I became friends quickly. I taught him some Spanish and he taught me some French while we were on this trip. We still message each other).
  4. The shelter that we were doing children’s ministry in was one that I helped to build. And that leads me to point number 5…
  5. This picture is from my first (and definitely not my last) mission trip. I was sixteen years old and the team that I was on went to Togo, West Africa (map pictured below). While we were there, we helped to construct a tabernacle (eight posts and a tin roof) and a shelter for Children’s Ministry. We would build these shelters and then we would walk around the area and invite people to the service.

This was a trip that I will NEVER forget. There is definitely so much more to tell about this trip, but this is a good starting point.

Thanks for sharing in the adventure!
