“Growing Up Teaching… What does that even mean?”

If this is something you’ve been wondering, let me take a moment to explain.

I have always loved teaching. It is something that I have been passionate about for as long as I can remember. Of course, this gets even more specific.

In an earlier post, I wrote about my experiences with teaching. This included different ministries I have been a part of, different volunteer opportunities, and my current educational path. All of this culminates to the “Teaching” part of this blog, but where does “Growing Up” tie in?

All of the opportunities that I have had have done a lot to shape me and how I teach. Teaching, in all of the different forms I’ve experienced, has been a large part of my growing up. I know that I still have A LOT left to learn. I am beyond excited to learn more and take advantage of more opportunities. The experiences I have and the things I learn will be part of what helps me to continue “growing up” as an individual and as a teacher.

So we have these two things: 1. I’m still growing and learning (both individually and as a soon-to-be teacher) and 2. I’m going to be teaching for a while to come. We combine these two factors and we have the name “Growing Up Teaching.” Not only does this accurately describe how I’ve grown up, but it also describes how I want to continue. I don’t want to stop learning once I graduate. The goal will be to continue growing, in an upwards direction, and this will influence my teaching.

The best is yet to come! Let the adventure continue!
